LA Memorial Coliseum Transportation: Game Day in Exposition Park Without the Parking

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum sits in Exposition Park, just south of downtown and across the street from the USC campus. It has hosted two Olympic Games, it is due to host a third in 2028, and on fall Saturdays it is home to USC football. It is also one of the harder big venues in the city to drive to. This guide covers why, and how a private chauffeur handles the parts of game day most people dread.

Why the Coliseum Is Hard on Drivers

The Coliseum opened about a century ago, long before anyone planned a stadium around tens of thousands of cars. It has no ring of open parking the way newer stadiums do. The lots inside Exposition Park are limited, much of the game day parking is sold in advance, and everyone else spreads out into campus structures and private lots in the blocks around the park.

The streets are the second problem. Figueroa, Vermont and Exposition Boulevard carry most of the traffic, and the Harbor Freeway exits closest to the stadium back up well before kickoff.

The park is also shared. BMO Stadium is next door, and the Natural History Museum and the California Science Center bring their own visitors on the same afternoon. When two events overlap, they compete for the same few streets.

Then the game ends and the whole crowd leaves together. Rideshare pickups are pushed out to set zones, so the walk and the wait can run long, and prices climb with demand.

How a Chauffeured Ride Changes Game Day

With a private chauffeur the plan is made before you leave home. Your driver knows the kickoff time, watches traffic on the way in, and sets you down close to the gates with time to find your seats. Afterward you walk to the pickup point you agreed on and the car is there. The price was confirmed when you booked, so a sold out rivalry game costs what you were told it would.

  • A fixed price agreed before the ride, whatever the crowd is doing
  • No parking pass to hunt for and no long walk back to a distant lot
  • A pickup point arranged with your chauffeur before the game
  • Room for the whole group in one vehicle, with space for bags and jackets
  • Nobody in the party has to skip the tailgate to drive home
  • A quiet cabin after four loud quarters

Timing Tips for a Coliseum Game

Confirm the kickoff time before you fix your pickup. College football start times are often set for television only a week or two ahead, so the time you saw when you bought tickets may have moved.

Plan to arrive early. USC fans tailgate on campus for hours before a game, and walking through it is half the fun. An early arrival also puts you ahead of the worst of the traffic on Figueroa.

Look at what else is on in Exposition Park that day. A match at BMO Stadium or a busy museum weekend makes the approach slower, and your chauffeur will plan the route around it.

Night games finish late. If you are coming from Pasadena, the Westside or Orange County, a planned ride home is worth more at eleven at night than it is at noon.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

For two or three people, a black BMW i5 or BMW i7 keeps the day quiet and comfortable. Families and groups of friends usually prefer the Chevrolet Suburban or the Infiniti QX80, which seat everyone together with room to spare. The BMW iX is an all electric option for a smaller party. Every vehicle is black and driven by a professional chauffeur.

More Than Football

The same plan works for anything in Exposition Park: a concert at the Coliseum, a match at BMO Stadium, a museum gala, or a family weekend at USC. If you are hosting clients or relatives, one booking can cover several cars on the same schedule.
